This 6-day Buddhist Tour takes you on a peaceful and spiritual journey through key Buddhist sites in India. You will visit Bodh Gaya, where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment. Then, explore ancient learning centers like Nalanda and holy places like Rajgir and Vaishali. You will also visit Kushinagar, where Buddha took his last breath, and end your tour in the holy city of Varanasi. This tour is perfect for those who seek inner peace and wish to follow the footsteps of Lord Buddha. You will see temples, monasteries, and sacred places that carry deep spiritual meaning.
You will arrive at Gaya, either by train or by flight. Our travel representative will meet you and take you to Bodh Gaya, which is about 12 km away. After checking into the hotel, take some time to rest. In the afternoon, you will visit the Mahabodhi Temple, the most important place in Buddhism.
Lord Buddha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree here. You will also visit the Great Buddha Statue, the Thai Temple, and other monasteries built by different countries. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay.
After breakfast, drive to Patna. On the way, stop at Rajgir and Nalanda. In Rajgir, visit the Vishwa Shanti Stupa, which sits on top of a hill. Use a ropeway to reach the top. You will also visit Gridhakuta Hill, where Buddha delivered many sermons, and the ruins of Venuvana, a bamboo grove gifted to Buddha.
Next, visit Nalanda, one of the oldest universities in the world. Walk through the ruins and visit the Nalanda Museum and Nava Nalanda Mahavihara. Later, continue your drive to Patna. On arrival, check into your hotel and relax.
After breakfast, head to Vaishali, which is about 55 km from Patna. This is where Buddha preached his last sermon. Visit the Ashokan Pillar, a sign of Emperor Ashoka’s devotion to Buddhism. Also visit Buddha Stupa I and II, where some of Buddha’s ashes are kept.
Explore the Vaishali Museum, and then visit the Ananda Stupa and the World Peace Pagoda. These spots offer peaceful surroundings for prayer and reflection. In the evening, return to Patna for the night.
Start early and drive to Kushinagar, the place where Buddha attained Mahaparinirvana (final salvation). This is a long drive, so carry water and snacks. In Kushinagar, visit the Parinirvana Stupa and the Nirvana Temple. See the reclining statue of Buddha, which shows him at the time of his passing.
Also, visit the Matha Kuar Shrine and Ramabhar Stupa. These places mark important parts of Buddha’s last journey. After the visit, continue the journey to Varanasi. On arrival, check in at the hotel and rest.
Early in the morning, go for a boat ride on the River Ganges. Watch the sun rise as people perform morning rituals on the ghats. This is a peaceful and spiritual experience.
Return to the hotel for breakfast. Then, visit Sarnath, just 10 km away. This is where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon. Visit the Dhamek Stupa, Chaukhandi Stupa, and the Sarnath Museum. Also, see the Ashoka Pillar and Mulagandha Kuti Vihara.
In the evening, witness the famous Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat. The ceremony is full of lights, chants, and devotion. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay.
After breakfast, check out of the hotel. Depending on your flight or train schedule, you can do some last-minute shopping or explore a nearby ghat. Our travel staff will drop you at the Varanasi airport or railway station for your journey home.
