You arrive in Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu. Our representative welcomes you at the airport or railway station and takes you to your hotel. After checking in, rest for a while. In the afternoon, start your Chennai city tour. Visit Kapaleeshwarar Temple, built in Dravidian style. Then go to San Thome Church, which holds the tomb of St. Thomas. After that, walk along Marina Beach, one of the longest beaches in the world. End the day with dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel.
After breakfast, drive to Mahabalipuram. On the way, stop at Kanchipuram, also called the “City of Thousand Temples.” Visit famous temples like Kailasanathar and Ekambareswarar Temple. Kanchipuram is also known for silk sarees, so you can stop by a weaving center if you like. Later, continue to Mahabalipuram. Check into your hotel. Spend your evening at leisure by the beach. Stay overnight in Mahabalipuram.
In the morning, explore the heritage sites of Mahabalipuram. Visit the Shore Temple, which faces the Bay of Bengal. Then see the Five Rathas, a group of monolithic rock temples shaped like chariots. Also, visit Arjuna’s Penance, a giant stone carving showing scenes from Hindu mythology. After the tour, drive to Pondicherry. Upon arrival, check into your hotel. In the evening, take a walk along the Promenade Beach. Stay overnight in Pondicherry.
Start your day with a visit to Aurobindo Ashram, a peaceful spiritual place. Then explore the French Quarter with its colonial buildings, colorful houses, and tree-lined streets. You can also explore the Saraswathi Mahal Library. Enjoy the local cuisine before heading back to your hotel for the night.
After breakfast, leave for Madurai. On the way, stop at Trichy (Tiruchirappalli). Visit the Rock Fort Temple, built on a huge rock. Climb the steps to reach the top and get a nice view of the city. Also, visit the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple at Srirangam, a large and beautiful temple complex. After exploring Trichy, continue your journey to Madurai. On arrival, check into your hotel. In the evening, visit the Meenakshi Amman Temple. Watch the evening ceremony called “Aarti,” where priests put the goddess to rest. Stay overnight in Madurai.
On the last day, enjoy a delicious breakfast at your hotel. Depending on your departure time, you can visit the Gandhi Memorial Museum or shop at the local market for souvenirs.
